The 2022 succession politics is taking shape and different camps have emerged ahead of the highly anticipated General Election.
Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has said she is ready to meet Deputy President William Ruto and other like-minded leaders for deliberations that may likely lead to a possible alliance.
While responding to a tweep named Cosmus Ondari who had asked her whether she had a plan to meet the second in command, Karua stated she was ready to meeting all leaders.
“When will you meet @WilliamsRuto for deliberation?,” Ondari posed, to which Karua replied, “Open to meet all leaders.”
2022 succession race
The veteran politician nicknamed the iron lady due to her aggressive nature held a meeting with Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana on Tuesday, September 29, to purposely discuss the future of Kenyan politics.
Mudavadi did not reveal much of the deliberation but said talks centred around the state of the nation.
The trio have declared their intentions to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta once his second and final term expires in 2022.
“I met with Martha Karua and Governor Kibwana. We held discussions on the state of the nation and emerging economic, social and political scenarios,” he disclosed.
On his part, Kibwana urged all leaders to engage in constructive dialogue as a guarantor of peace towards a potentially divisive 2022 General Election.
In the last elections held in 2017, despite putting up a spirited fight, Karua lost in her Kirinyaga gubernatorial bid to former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru.
She subsequently ran to court to challenge the elections saying they were not free and fair but her petition was thrown out by the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the highest court in the land- the Supreme Court.
