Youths under the aegis of the #SecureNorth movement, on Tuesday, took over Kaduna to protest the unending insecurity in the northern states of the country.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the organiser of the #EndInseurityNow protesters, the Coalition of Northern Groups, suspended its protest.

The #SecureNorth protesters marched through the busy Way in Kaduna metropolis to the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ secretariat, where they addressed newsmen around 2pm.

The Way, formerly WAFF Road, links up with the Ahmadu Bello Way and the Ali Akilu Road.

The youth carried placard with inscriptions such as: ‘SecureNorth’, ‘Enough is enough’, ‘Buhari kan san ana kashe mu? (Buhari do you know we are being killed?), and ‘Stop the kidnappers’,  among others.

One of the leaders of the protesters, Mustapha Bulama, read out the demands of the group and decried the killings in the North.

The protesters, he said, were demanding that the President, Major General (retd.), should addressed the nation on what his regime was doing to arrest the state of insecurity in the region.

Buluma noted that there was no gainsaying the fact that the North was now at the mercy of Boko Haram insurgents, kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements, who were wreaking havoc on the region.
