It is a known fact that many Nigerian have lost their jobs since March when the COVID-19 case was first recorded in the country. However, some appointments were made, especially by the politicians in some Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
1. Professor Ibrahim Gambari
On May 13, Prof Gambari became the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. He was a career diplomat and academic.
He replaced Mallam Abba Kyari who died of complications from COVID-19 related sickness in April.
2. Yakubu Mahmood
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, December 9, swore-in Prof. Yakubu, the chairman, of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for the second and final five-year term in office.
The swearing-in ceremony took place just before the commencement of the weekly virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council, (FEC), in the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Senate had on December 1, confirmed the nomination of Yakubu for re-appointment as the chairman of INEC.
3. Olalekan Fadolapo
Fadolapo was appointed as the registrar/CEO of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) on August 26, by the president.
4. Buki Ponle
On August 27, President Buhari approved the appointment of Buki Ponle as the Managing Director of News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN).
5. Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed
The president on May 2, approved the appointment of AVM Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed (Rtd.) as the new director-general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
6. Alwan Hassan
On June 4, the president approved the appointment of Alwan Ali Hassan as acting managing director for the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
7. Suleiman Abba
The former Inspector-General of Police was on May 26, became the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF)
8. Ahmed Kuru
President Buhari reappointed Ahmed Kuru as managing director of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) for a final term of five years on December 7.
