1. Ramaphosa announces stricter regulations ahead of festive season

President has announced a host of further lockdown restrictions as South Africa battles to contain the rise of a second COVID-19 wave. In an address to the nation on Monday evening, Ramaphosa announced the Garden Route and the Sarah Bartmaan Districts as hotspots. There is also an adjusted curfew and a full closure of beaches on specific days in KZN and in the Nelson Mandela Bay region.

2. Ethekwini Municipality looking to purchase Funworld

The eThekwini Municipality is proposing to purchase Durban beach front attraction Funworld for R40-million to bolster the city’s tourism sector. The proposal is a partnership between the city and uShaka Marine theme park. The report approved by the municipality’s executive committee (Exco) is expected to be discussed at full council on Tuesday for final approval.
