Dar es Salaam. The Ethics Secretariat commissioner and retired judge of the Tanzania Court of Appeal, Harold Nsekela passed on at the age of 76 on Sunday after a short illness.
The Court of Appeal said in a statement that Nsekela passed on in the morning in Dodoma where he was receiving treatment.
“Further details on his death and funeral arrangements will be announced later,” the statement reads in part.
The statement did not mention the particular hospital in Dodoma where the departed judge was receiving medical treatment.
Nsekela was born on October 21, 1944.
He was appointed judge of the High Court of Tanzania in February 2003 before his promotion to the Court of Appeal.
Upon his retirement, he was appointed commissioner of the Ethics Secretariat in December 2016, a position he held until his death.
President John Magufuli sent his condolences following the death.
He described Nsekela as honest, patriotic and hardworking man who played low profile.
