Nakku’s tributes were delivered during her memorial service at Namirembe Cathedral on Wednesday, October 14.

CELEBRATING LIFE | JANET NAKKU NSIBAMBI 

Warm tributes have been paid to the late Janet Nakku Nsibambi, a veteran primary educationist who died in the US on September 28, 2020 at the age of 94.

Nakku, a devout Born-again Christian and philanthropist, was the sister of the late Prof. Apollo Robin Nsibambi, Uganda’s former Prime Minister.

Nakku’s tributes were delivered during her memorial service at Namirembe Cathedral on Wednesday, October 14.

Among those who praised Nakku was the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, who spoke highly of her generosity, social disposition and responsible parenting.

Mayiga said Nakku’s commitment to her children’s moral formation was very evident in the friendly and jolly character of his son Paul Mbabaali, who he said brought joy and peace to all people.

The Prime minister Uganda, Dr , described Nakku as a seasoned educationist, who made a significant contribution to community development in Uganda and the US.

Rugunda donated sh5m towards the burial arrangements of Nakku.

Rugunda’s condolence message was delivered by the Attorney General, William Byaruhanga, a loyal friend to the Nsibambi family.

Canon Justus Miwanda, the holilist, asked Christians to emulate Nakku’s commitment to Jesus. He described Naku as a true born-again Christian, who loved Jesus and helped other people to know God and His saving love.

During the service, Juliet Nanteza Nsibambi Kasujja, a daughter of the late Professor Apollo Nsibambi, was declared as the heiress of the late Nakku.

The late Nakku will be buried Thursday (October 15, 2020) at Buloba Church of Uganda.
