The contract of outgoing Executive Director for the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) James Saaka expires this month.

Saaka who has successfully concluded his 10year tenure as NITA-U ED is expected to hand over office to his successor Dr. Hatwib Mugasa on August 25.

Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, who holds a PhD from Louisiana Tech University, USA is expected to receive office from Saaka in about two weeks time.

According to NITA-U Act, 2009, the Executive Director shall hold office for five years and is eligible for re-appointment for one more term.

Saaka was appointed NITA-U boss in 2010 and had his contract renewed in 2015 and is expiring this year. NITA-U is an autonomous government parastatal under the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, mandated to coordinate, promote and monitor Information and Technology developments in Uganda within the context of National Social and Economic development.
