Bear Grylls needs no introduction. This British adventurer and former SAS serviceman, is known for his unmatched survival tricks and skills which he showcases time and again on his shows. And over the years, the man has also earned a reputation of convincing prominent personalities to join him in his deadly adventures into the wild. The newest entrant in his ever-expanding list is Bollywood’s Khiladi, Akshay Kumar, who shared the news with his fans on Friday, August 21, 2020. Akshay Kumar, a trained martial artist and easily one of the fittest actors in Bollywood, took to social media to give a sneak-peek into his upcoming adventurous journey into the wild with Bear Grylls. The episode will premiere on Discovery Plus India on September 11.
While his fans are excited to watch him pull-off dangerous stunts (in real life), he’s not the only celebrity to be featured in Bear Grylls’ shows. 1. PM Narendra Modi
In 2019, Bear Grylls decided to set his foot in the Indian wilderness. PM Narendra Modi decided to join him and together the duo travelled through the jungles of Jim Corbett in Uttarakhand. From smelling elephant dung, crossing a river in a makeshift raft to learning how to make a spear, it was quite an adventure as they tried to survive in a natural ecosystem. According to Economic Times, the episode crossed a staggering 3.6 billion impressions, making it the world’s most-trending televised event.
After PM Modi, Thalaiva aka Southern superstar Rajinikanth made his debut in Into The Wild with Bear Grylls, in January. The two went on an adventurous journey through the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka. Talking about his experience of shooting with Rajinikanth, Bear Grylls wrote in a tweet, “I have worked with many stars around the world but this one for me was special. Love India. #ThalaivaOnDiscovery.” Rajinikanth too thanked Bear Grylls for giving him an unforgettable experience.
3. Nick Jonas
In 2016, singer-songwriter and actor Nick Jonas, headed to the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the Western United States to test if his survival skills are at par with Bear Grylls, in subzero temperatures. A report in Billboard quoted Bear Grylls saying, “He did so well, what a great guy. Threw himself into it, dealt with even his diabetes – that can be so difficult. He overcame so many personal challenges, on this journey and he leaves with all of my respect.”
4. Barack Obama
In December 2015, former President Barack Obama made a special appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls. The duo went for a special trek through the Alaskan wilderness, where they discussed climate change, how Barack Obama juggles between work and home and ate a half-eaten salmon that was spat out by a bear (not Grylls, but a real one).

Winner of most Grand Slam titles in tennis, Roger Federer, travelled through the tough terrains of Swiss Alps for Running Wild with Bear Grylls and according to a report in Business Insider, the duo went against icy waterfalls and fish eyeballs to make it to the top of a mountain. The report further mentioned how Roger Federer got convinced for the episode and quoted Bear Grylls saying, “He has often said: ‘Look, when I retire I’ll do it.’ But he came back really fired up after winning the Australian Open, he said: ‘Come on, let’s do it!’ I was filming out in the Swiss Alps anyway, so it happened fast and his episode was a really special one.”
6. Courteney Cox
Courteney Cox, best known as Monica from Friends joined Bear Grylls in Ireland in 2016, where they climbed sharp and rough peaks, braved cold temperatures and feasted on maggots, according to IMDb. A report in Independent quoted Bear Grylls saying, “She was bedraggled. She was living off maggots from testicle sacks. She had tears pouring down her cheeks and I said, ‘Welcome to Ireland, this is what it’s like.’”

The Eat Pray Love actress joined Bear Grylls for an episode for his show Running Wild, in 2017. The duo travelled together through rough terrains, canyons and rivers of Kenya to deliver vaccines to a remote village, on behalf of the campaign called Red Nose Day.
