Stalin urges PM Modi to order 'transparent review' of civil services exams to ensure social justice

CHENNAI: DMK president M K Stalin on Monday urged Prime Minister to order a ‘transparent review’ of the Civil Services Exams (CSE) 2019 to ensure social justice as provided in the Indian Constitution.
He said irregularities in implementing reservations for OBCs have come to light and the selection of several candidates has been kept in reserve.
In a statement, Stalin, citing the results, said candidates from the economically weaker sections (EWS) from forward castes, for whom the BJP government at the Centre has introduced a 10% reservation, benefited from a lower cut off threshold than the candidates from SC, ST and OBCs, whose cut off eligibility was higher.
“This trend was visible in preliminary and main examinations as well as the list drawn for interviews for final selection to civil services,” Stalin said.
“I urge Prime Minister Modi, who is from the backward classes, to discuss the issue with the concerned ministry and ensure that the discrepancies are set right and benefits of reservation reach the deserved from the SC, ST and OBCs,” Stalin said.
