There's Another Potential COVID-19 Vaccine & It Has Been Over 94% Effective So Far

There’s a little more hope on the horizon! On Monday, an American biotechnology company announced that the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine candidate has shown promising results in its trial stages.

In a statement shared on November 16, Moderna released a statement sharing information about the possible shot.

According to the company, it’s been 94.5% effective in its trial stages, per their preliminary data.

Moderna says 30,000 volunteers are involved in the study, all of whom received either the real vaccination or a placebo shot.

That should give us all hope that actually a vaccine is going to be able to stop this pandemic and hopefully get us back to our lives.

While this is promising, it’s the fact two companies have now found similar results that’s most reassuring, according to Moderna’s president, Dr. Stephen Hoge.

Hoge’s comments come just days after another American company reported their vaccine candidate was showing positive results in its early trial stages.

Last week, Pfizer and BioNTech’s data found their shots to be up to 90% effective at preventing COVID-19, a result that Justin Trudeau described as “encouraging.”

In the same week, a Canadian company also announced that their plant-derived version of the vaccine was showing a “promising antibody response” in 100% of volunteers.

Speaking on November 9, Trudeau said that he hoped vaccines would land in Canada by “early next year.”
