MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – The development of the common gas market is part and parcel of the economic integration in the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on 11 December, BelTA has learned.
Nikol Pashinyan views the finalization of the integration development strategy through 2025 as one of the priorities for the union. “We must find compromise solutions to complete this extremely important integration process. We stay committed to our principled position on the need for a coordinated energy policy. We believe that the development of a common gas market of the union is part and parcel of the Union’s economic integration,” he said.
The prime minister praised the work of the EEC at the first stage of the common gas market development in the EAEU. “I would like to emphasize the importance of the second stage, the main result of which should be the development of the infrastructural, technological and legal framework of the common gas market of the Union. The development and adoption of an international treaty on the EAEU common gas market will be an important milestone in the activities of the Union and the development of the integration space,” Nikol Pashinyan added.
In his words, the outgoing year was very difficult for all the EAEU member states, including due to the pandemic. “This, however, did not narrow the union’s scope of activity; on the contrary, the difficulties united us. Moreover, they underscored the need to intensify processes to complete the construction of an effectively functioning integration union, ensuring freedom of movement of goods, services, labor and capital, a union aimed at creating conditions for further alignment of our economies and increasing their level of integration,” the Armenian prime minister stressed.
