Cristina Fernández de Kirchner received Andrés Arauz, Ecuador’s presidential candidate promoted by Rafael Correa, in her Argentine Senate office
The government of Ecuador repudiated this Sunday the recent statements made by the Vice President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, within the framework of his meeting last week with Andrés Arauz, the presidential candidate promoted by Rafael Correa.
“Given what was published by the vice president of Argentina Cristina Fernández, on her Twitter account on December 4, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility has presented a formal protest note from the Government of Ecuador, regretting the inappropriate statements issued by the Vice President, on the occasion of her meeting with the Ecuadorian citizen Andrés Arauz Galarza in Buenos Aires, regarding questioning the democracy in the territory internal affairs of Ecuador “says the statement issued by the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry.
“Unlike in the past, the Government of Constitutional President Lenín Moreno Garcés has demonstrated during his tenure the respect for the fundamental values of the rule of law, and the autonomy of the Powers of the State, typical of an active and healthy democracy. The statement issued by the Ecuadorian authorities
Cristina Fernández de Kirchner supported last Friday the candidate for the presidency in Ecuador, Andrés Arauz Galarza, the dolphin of former President Rafael Correa, and pointed out that the current government of Lenín Moreno is not democratic.
“Together with Andrés Aráuz Galarza, until today a banned candidate for President of Ecuador by the Union for Hope alliance. Does Lenín Moreno really want the rest of the world to believe that there is democracy in Ecuador? “, published the Argentine vice president on her social networks.
Cristina Fernández de Kirchner attached to that message a photo that was taken with Arauz Galarza on Friday afternoon in his office of the Argentine Senate, where they held a one-hour meeting, on a day in which Correa’s candidate received the support of several figures of the ruling party.
This gesture was an explicit support of the Argentine vice president for the leftist candidate for the elections to be held on February 7 in Ecuador, for which Arauz Galarza denounces that he still does not have the qualification of the National Electoral Council.
“The Government of Ecuador values the ties of friendship and cooperation that it has historically maintained with the Argentine Republic and has the will and interest that it continue in this way with the Government of President Alberto Fernández, in order to work on those issues that unite us and we are reciprocally concerned, such as improving the quality of life of our populations, overcoming the dire social effects of the pandemic, deepening democracy and peace in our countries “, concludes the statement from the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry.
President Alberto Fernández had already supported Arauz Galarza, also in a publication on his social networks, days before the meeting of the presidential candidate with Cristina Kirchner: “Democracy is not built by excluding political actors. That is what happens with @ecuarauz in Ecuador, whose registration as a presidential candidate is delayed without reason ”.
