MEXICO CITY, December 11 (EL UNIVERSAL) .- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that thanks to the intervention of SCJN President Arturo Zaldívar, a judge released Rafael “N”, who was arrested since 2008, who was tortured, had already paid his sentence, but he was still imprisoned for reinstatement.
The case was exposed at the press conference “mañanera”. Yesterday Thursday, the Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, said the case of Rafael is “a legal tragedy”, who in addition to being tortured had already served his sentence, but had no sentence because he was ordered to reinstate the process.
The head of the executive committed to journalist Judith Méndez, Rafael’s mother, who asked him to intervene because his son was not only tortured, but had already served his sentence and did not have a sentence.
“ The matter that was dealt yesterday with a young man who had already served his sentence and was held in prison for a misinterpretation of the law affecting the human rights of this young man. Yesterday I sent a letter to the president of the SCJN and he replied that he was going to intervene because this is an urgent matter.”
