The Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power (TEPJF) revoked by majority vote the precautionary measures that the National Electoral Institute (INE) it had ordered that the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, refrain from issuing statements of an electoral nature.
Previously, the Complaints and Complaints Commission declared admissible the precautionary measure against the executive to avoid commenting on the 2021 federal elections. After he spoke of a possible alliance between the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the National Action Party (PAN) for that electoral process and invited citizens to reflect on their vote.

The Complaints and Complaints Commission of the National Electoral Institute does not have the power to issue a determination of preventive protection, on future acts, as it constitutes an act of prior censorship that violates the principle of legality provided in the Political Constitution.
The TEPJF explained that precautionary measures are accessory so they must always be part of a main procedure and not be dictated by events that have not yet occurred.
Determined to be respected the principle of neutrality and the rules set forth in article 134 for the non-intervention of public servants in the electoral process, especially the head of the Federal Executive Power and his cabinet, as well as the heads of the State and Municipal Powers.
The INE considered that Obrador incurred in personalized promotion, improper use of public resources and an improper public call to vote during his tour of Baja California between November 27 and 29.
Lorenzo Córdoba Vianello assured that the statements violate articles 41 and 134 of the Political Constitution.
