MADRID, 7 (EUROPA PRESS)
The spokesperson for the Popular Party in the European Parliament, Dolors Montserrat, has assured that in Venezuela “there have not been free and democratic elections.”
“In Venezuela there have not been free and democratic elections, on the contrary, it has been a fraud, a farce,” Montserrat stressed this Monday in a publication on his Twitter account.
For this reason, the popular spokesperson has celebrated that the European Union “did not recognize these elections.” “As long as transparent elections are not held, the legitimacy belongs to the president in charge Guaidó,” he said.
The European Union has indicated this Monday that it does not recognize the result of the legislative elections in Venezuela, considering that they have not complied with the “minimum” international standards and there is a deadline until January to define its relationship with the National Assembly that right now directs the president in charge, Juan Guaidó.
In this way, the EU has not recognized the victory of the Chavista coalition that supports President Nicolás Maduro, which would have won 67 percent of the vote in parliamentary elections that have had a 31 percent turnout.
