President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Saturday Khaled Battal, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, heading a high-level ministerial delegation, in the presence of a number of Egyptian and Iraqi ministers and officials.
“The president stressed during the meeting the fundamentals of the Egyptian policy in support of Iraq, strengthening its Arab national role, and achieving everything that would maintain its interests, security and stability,” said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Rady added that Egypt is keen to push the frameworks for cooperation with Iraq, whether on the bilateral or tripartite level with Jordan, in light of the strategic importance of this cooperation in the Arab world.
Sisi also affirmed the seriousness and strong will of Egypt towards fruitful cooperation with the Iraqi side in all fields, stressing the importance of the factor of careful follow-up to what is agreed upon, especially at the executive level, to bypass the traditional administrative and bureaucratic framework in order to crystallize concrete results.
On his part, Battal conveyed to Sisi the greetings of his two brothers, the Iraqi President and the Iraqi Prime Minister, stressing Iraq’s appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in support of the Iraqi issue at all levels.
“Iraq is looking forward to strengthening cooperation frameworks with Egypt, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Jordan,” Battal added.
The Egyptian spokesman added that the meeting witnessed the review and discussion of the delegations of Egypt and Iraq of joint cooperation projects in all fields to invest the capabilities available in the two countries, as well as activating the implementation mechanisms of what was agreed upon in the joint Egyptian-Iraqi Higher Committee, as well as following up the implementation of projects emanating from the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Jordan.
At the end of the meeting, Sisi asked to convey his greetings to Barham Salih, the Iraqi President, and Mustafa Al-Kazemi, the Iraqi Prime Minister.
