Patriarchate of Jerusalem hit, Pizzaballa positive to covid

TEL AVIV – Covid has hit the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, starting with Patriarch Msgr Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who tested positive for the virus and is currently in quarantine and in good condition.

The Patriarchate communicated the news and said five other priests are also currently infected with the virus but all are asymptomatic.

It said it hopes the situation can be resolved in the coming days, and in any case, prior to Christmas. Pizzaballa is scheduled to celebrate midnight Mass on December 24 in Bethlehem, in the West Bank.

This year, due to the health situation in the Palestinian territories, the Christmas Mass will be carried out differently than in the past. For example, at the current time Palestinian President is not expected to participate.
