Yerevan /Mediamax. Today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has held a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. During the meeting, Pashinyan has stated that the main issue of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is the humanitarian one, the return of Artsakh residents to their homes.
“There is already quite a good dynamic of Artsakh residents returning to their homes. Russian peacekeepers are in all their designated places, and they already provide security. This is a very important factor, which ensures the security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. However, there are also unresolved issues and they remain open: how will we ensure the use of the right to return concerning residents of several regions in the future, who will ensure the security of our compatriots, how will it be implemented? These, of course, are issues that are on our agenda. We must discuss and make decisions in this regard,” said Pashinyan.
“Our delegation has arrived in Yerevan within the framework of the agreement between you and President Vladimir Putin as well as Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, in order to fully address all areas of our cooperation, our allied, strategic relations. Of course, in the foreground we have the matters regarding priority issues that need to be solved in Nagorno-Karabakh,” said Lavrov.
He has noted that the role of peacekeepers is important in terms of providing not only security but also assistance to those returning home and to people in need of humanitarian aid.
“The interdepartmental center, which is already starting to work, will also deal specifically with all these issues. We actively engage international organizations from the UN network, and we encourage them to use their capacities for the people of the region in a more active, more proactive way,” said Russia’s Foreign Minister.
